Welcome to one of the oldest Italian facilities dedicated to golf! In fact, in 1898 the Couturbier Golf Course was the only golf course in Piedmont and there were only 2 in Italy at the time. Strongly wanted by Count Gaspar Voli, it was frequented by the Savoy family when it was in the area on its fox hunts. The course operated between alternating vicissitudes up to about 1963, when it was abandoned.
It was founded once again in 1984 under the name Golf Club Castelconturbia, and was affiliated with the Italian Golf Federation.
This modern 27-hole course designed and built by Robert Trent Jones Sr. was created on over one million square metres of land in an ideal area situated among centuries-old trees, streams, little lakes and slight undulations set against the background of the Mount Rosa Massif and near the seventeenth-century castle upstream on the Ticino River, where the waters of Lake Maggiore gradually become a river.
This modern course was classified as one of the 10 best courses in Europe and has 3 courses for enthusiasts at all levels:
AZZURRO (blue): a balance between competitive difficulty and sophisticated beauty; the precision required rewards players once the delicate, demanding, and unpredictable greens are conquered.
GIALLO (yellow): dramatic and charming, it requires technique and sporting enthusiasm while at the same time offers thrilling views of the landscape.
ROSSO (red): longer and requiring more technique, it is a true test for any golfer; its difficult greens and hazards were designed to astonish and engage.
But Golf Club Castelconturbia means so much more…
