Culture in Varese and the surrounding area

The garden city Varese has lots to offer for those looking to take advantage of their holidays to discover some interesting cultural places.

Varese’s cultural heritage

For example, Villa Litta Panza in Biumo is a superb baroque villa with several interesting architectural features that will thrill even those who have only a small notion of architecture. It is also home to an art gallery that displays pop art and minimal art works.
Palazzo Estense astounds visitors – especially its gardens, which are among the most interesting in the entire area. Villa Mirabello (one in the same with this structure) is the location of a good-size archaeological museum.

Leaving Varese, there is an ancient 11th-century tower in Velate.

Villas and museums in Laveno Mombello

Tourists looking for a trip marked by culture should stop in Casalzuigno in the territory of Laveno Mombello (30 minutes by car) to visit Villa della Porta Bozzolo and is marvellous garden.
Heading towards Laveno, tourists come across Cittiglio. This is the location of the unique Alfredo Binda Museum dedicated to great cyclists.
Nearby Cerro is famous for being the location of the Civica Raccolta di Terraglie (Civic Collection of Earthenware) which displays artistic ceramics produced starting in the 1800’s.

If you get this far, you’ll probably be tired. The best place to relax is the botanical garden at Villa de Angeli Frua, which is on Laveno Mombello’s lakeside promenade.
