Outing in the area around Verbania
You’ll certainly be satisfied if you spend your holidays in Verbania on Lake Maggiore, but you could also go on an outing outside town to visit other renowned places overlooking the lake.
Ghiffa and its spa
Driving north along Lake Maggiore on provincial road 63 takes you to Ghiffa, a town known for its hydrotherapies and climate therapies. You know you’re in the area when you start seeing a series of beautiful villas along the coast. The town is very pretty and enriched with architectural detail, which will certainly make your stay more pleasant. After having enjoyed the scenery strolling along the lakeside promenade, go to Ronco and visit the Sanctuary of Trinità.
Stopping in Oggebbio
When you get going again along Lake Maggiore, you’ll arrive in Oggebbio in less than 15 minutes. The lake appears to widen here and its entire length can almost be seen - it’s a magnificent view that can’t be found anywhere else. If the weather is good, this is also the ideal place for water sports so don’t forget your equipment if you’re a sports enthusiast. There are well-equipped ski slopes in nearby Piancavallo.
If you need to get back to Verbania by a certain time, plan for approximately 30 minutes by car at a moderate speed.
