In addition to excellent hospitality and tourist services, visitors will find many ways to quench their thirst for culture in Switzerland, on the northern shore of Lake Maggiore.
Well-known Locarno is home to a very charming ancient Castello Visconteo (Visconti castle). Wandering about town, you will discover many little churches, each having at least one hidden treasure inside. Just out of town is the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso and its marvellous view. If you visit the town at the right time of the year, you’ll also notice the typical energy associated with the famous film festival.
Take the road to Ascona from here and head towards Mount Verità: this is a cultural, mystic and religious centre from the early 1900’s. Today it’s a fairly important museum and still has some of the original buildings. There are several little art galleries and a civic museum in town. In terms of sacred art, make sure to visit the 15th-century Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo.
The last leg of your hypothetical trip is Losone, which can be reached from Ascona in 5 minutes. The most interesting building is the Church of San Giorgio which is home to precious 15th-century frescoes.
