Arona – home to the Fiera del Lago Maggiore (Fair of Lake Maggiore) – is an important and highly populated tourist destination. You will have access to all the conveniences if you spend your holidays here, and occasions to spend unique days out of town.
One of the closest towns worth visiting is Invorio, the gateway to the Vergante area. Take provincial road 33 to get there. It’s especially known for a Torre Viscontea (Visconti tower) and is surrounded by nature and chestnut groves. Chestnuts are in fact a typical local product and influence regional cuisine.
When you get going again, head towards Ghevio where you can admire the ancient Oratory of Sant’Anna, and then head in the direction of Meina, where you will marvel at the many villas located along the coast. The most well-known one is Villa Faraggiana with its large garden.
Take trunk road 33 and you will be back in Arona in less than 10 minutes.
