Losone
Losone is a Swiss municipality in the Canton Ticino with a privileged position just a short distance from Lake Maggiore. Located behind Ascona and Locarno, the town doesn't have direct access to the lake, but is characterised by being particularly pleasant and peaceful and having all the comforts and services making it the ideal place to relax in.
Tourism in Losone
The Church of San Giorgio with its marvellous 15th-century frescoes in the apse (Her Majesty surrounded by the symbolic figures of the evangelists, the theory of the apostles on the sides, the Crucifixion in the background with the figures of saints and prophets) is the most important of the many churches in the municipal territory.
Both the Church of San Rocco and the Church of San Lorenzo in the centre of Losone are in fact noteworthy, while the 14th-century Parish Church of Sant’Antonio Abate can be admired in Arcegno.
Events and entertainment in Losone
Several festivals and events are organised throughout the year. These include the festivals in the different districts, the Castagnata ad Arcegno (Arcegno chestnut festival) and the traditional Christmas concert organised by the municipal administration of Losone.
The Golf Club Gerre Losone was recently built near Gerre, where horse-riding can also be enjoyed at a well-known stable.
